For my fellow dog lovers out there, you may be wondering if there is a way you can include your dog in your wedding photos. You may consider your dog to be a true member of your family (I know I do!), so it is very common to want to include them in your wedding somehow. And ultimately it is your day, so you need to do what makes you happy. If that includes involving your pup, then let’s make it happen! Here are four ways you can do so.

01. Include Your Dog In Your Engagement Photos With Help From A Friend

The first way that you could include your dog in your wedding photos is by including them in your engagement photo session. Depending on where you decide to have your session, you could include your pup in some photos at the beginning of your session, and then potentially ask a friend to join you to take them for a walk part way through so that we can continue to capture photos with just the two of you.

02. Plan A Dog-Friendly Engagement Photo Session

Another way you can include your dog in your engagement photos is to create a dog-friendly session. In-home engagement photo sessions are always a favorite because it is a relaxing environment for everyone to just be themselves and an opportunity to capture beautiful photos.

Alternatively, if you prefer to go out somewhere – breweries are often dog-friendly, as are parks! Hikes are also always a fun way to include your dog in your engagement photos while also getting in a little exercise and some beautiful scenery. I always recommend to my couples to think of your engagement session as a date, and the location ideas will flow from there.

03. Include Your Dog In Your Wedding Portraits

When it comes to ways to include your dog in your wedding, that can require a bit more planning. One suggestion is to have a pet sitter bring your pup for either your first look photos if you opt to include this in your wedding day timeline, or for family portraits. You will want to check your venue requirements first though and make sure that dogs are allowed. I have seen some really sweet moments captured with couples and their beloved pups during portraits! And if you have a pet sitter, your dog can join you for the photos, and then you have the opportunity to return to your guests and the rest of your wedding day festivities.

04. Include Your Dog In Your Wedding Photos – Have Them Walk Down The Aisle

Finally, a really adorable way to include your dog in your wedding is to have your pup walk down the aisle. You could even have them wear a cute sign. However you dress them up (or not), you will wind up with very sweet photos of you and your beloved furry family member.

Whichever way you decide to go, you cannot go wrong! It’s always fun including your dog in wedding photos. If you are in New England and looking for wedding or engagement photography, please don’t hesitate to reach out! I love to meet new couples and their pups!
